Hi! Thank you for reading The Dawn Chapel, I’m pretty excited that you’d want to! I started doing this comic in the fall of 2009, with the objective of just doing a comic page a week to try to teach myself how to tell stories visually and see if I could keep a regular update schedule. I shoot for updates on fridays but as often as not, I am late and wind up posting later on the weekend. Some people are pretty good at getting their comic out according to a regular schedule; I am not one of them.
I don’t know, should I write something else here? How about a faq? I guess people like those?
I see a lot of talking animal people. Is this a furry comic?
Yeah probably! I’ve been involved with the furry community since I was a teenager, and I’ve been doing commissioned furry art and dealing at cons for the last ten years. If there’s an opportunity to fit talking animal people into a story, I will probably take that opportunity. One of my goals with The Dawn Chapel is to create a quote-unquote furry comic that remains accessible to people outside of the furry community, though.
How do I leave a comment, I can’t find any place to register?
If you’d like to participate in the discussion in the comments section, you’ll need to have supported The Dawn Chapel by becoming a patron, making a purchase in the store, or having donated at some point. If you’ve done any of these things and you don’t have a commenting account, drop me a note and I’ll get you set up.
I want to share your comic on Reddit but I don’t want to crash your site, should I repost it to imgur?
That isn’t necessary! My web host is sturdy enough to handle Reddit traffic, and when you directly link to my site, visitors from Reddit are more apt to read further and discover my other work.
Howcome the prices on your originals are so weird?
I tend to price my original artwork based on how willing I am to let go of it, rather than an objective assessment of how much it’s “worth.” If I don’t really want to sell something, I’ll price it so high that if it does wind up selling, I won’t be too upset about it.
Why is this comic called The Dawn Chapel? There is nothing morningy or churchy about it.
When I started doing this comic I had registered the url dawnchapel.com for another project that I never got around to starting, and rather than spend the money to register a new url (and have to think up a title for this comic) I figured I’d just use what I already had. It is probably the dumbest way to name a webcomic; and if it is the dumbest way to name a webcomic (like, if there’s an objective review board or whatever that is able to confirm that this is the dumbest way to name a webcomic), I would like a prize.
I have another question that is not answered here; this is a problem and you should do something.
