My dog ate it

The Alternative Press Exposition and other activities precluded my having any time to do comic this weekend and for that I apologize, especially in the middle of a story where the pacing is relatively slow.

Some news, though: we got reviewed by Digital Strips, who seemed to be more or less in favor of this webcomics caper. Even the criticisms that they had were weirdly flattering: The Dawn Chapel was compared unfavorably to One Swoop Fell, the Abominable Charles Christopher, and Maus. Yeah, Maus. I wouldn’t put myself in that kind of company, in pretty much any context, but it’s very gratifying to know that those are the kind of standards I’m being held to even when I’m failing to meet them. They also recently reviewed our buddy Beckey’s excellent comic String Theory, though I can’t tell you if they liked it or not yet because I’m downloading their most recent podcast right now. (Fun fact about String Theory: it is a major reason that The Dawn Chapel exists.)

Also, do you live in the Chicago area? Or the midwest, in general? (I think that’s where Chicago is, right? I’m fuzzy on any kind of US geography east of roughly Colorado.) If you are feeling up to braving one of the furry cons, I am going to be at Midwest Furfest next month, sharing a dealer’s room table with the Thornwolf, who is as charming as she is talented. We will do our best to make ourselves easy for you to find. I’m really looking forward to this con because I haven’t really traveled much outside of California, and also because they like to abbreviate this con as MFF, which is of course the sound that somebody makes when you’re trying to smother them with a pillow. Not, uh, that I have any direct experience.

As the con draws a little closer, I’ll make some more posts with the stuff I’ll have in the art show and pictures of table displays as I have them made up.

Three new originals in the Store

The Derp Cycle, In Space, and Better Living through UX are now available in the Store. The Soldier and the Tsar originals went just about as soon as they were put up for sale, so if you’re interested in snagging any of these, history has taught that sooner is better than later.

Open for commissions!

If you want to commission some original artwork from me, I’ve got the signup sheet for you right here. I’ve got a fair amount of time to get work done this week, so now’s a good time to speak up if you want a speedy turnaround!

You can check the store for examples of previous watercolor work that I’ve done in the past, so that you can get some idea of what I can do. And of course if you’ve been reading the comic, you’re already familiar with my watercolor work. (I’m taking digital commissions off the table for the time being, since I’d really rather focus on my watercolor skills right now.)

So, quick update

If you’ve visited the site lately you probably noticed that the header has got some handy navigation now that will take you to several choice destinations pertaining to this comic. There are some new things to see!

For instance, in the store, you’ll find that The Derp Cycle and Everything is Better in Space are now available in all print sizes.

Also, there’s a faq, full of shocking revelations! And an extras page! I put the wallpaper I made from They Sit So Still in the Extras page, along with some link banners, if you wanna link to this site.

Still working on figuring out why the comic doesn’t appear in the RSS feed. I didn’t mean to roll you like that, RSS subscribers. Hopefully I’ll have it fixed by Friday.

Also exciting news in the world of webcomics, my BFF Story has launched the sensational webcomic, Inscribing Ardi! I’m late to announcing this but that actually works out for you, you can read through the archive they’ve already got built up. Story’s an extraordinary talent and Inscribing Ardi is going to be worth keeping an eye on, I can’t say enough nice things about it.

Doing some work on the site

I’m working on an update to the site design; and because I have basically no competence in these kinds of things at all, usually that means something’s gonna get broken and everything is going to end in tears. If you show up today and everything’s gone all weird, I do apologize.
